January 14, 2013 - Snow Mountain Ranch, CO
Denver Curling Club volunteers travelled to Snow Mountain Ranch near Winter Park CO., to introduce curling to disabled veterans January 14, 2013. The event was put on by the National Sports Center for the Disabled. The vets had the opportunity to try 5 paralympic winter sports! It was amazing to see how well they did with the various disabilities. NSCD had several volunteers, about 1 volunteer for each participant.
The DCC volunteers arrived at the YMCA of the Rockies about 8:00 AM January 14, 2013 and had to shovel snow off of the outdoor rink, scrape the ice bumps before they could begin to set up curling for the disabled vets with weather temps at 30 below zero. Many thanks to Tom Whitman, Karen Bronson, Pam Wilson, David and Pam Finch who introduced curling to about 27 different veterans. They had a great time and everyone enjoyed the experience.
