Introduced to curling as a teen in Northern Ontario, I recall the social atmosphere more than the game. The Granite was the place to be on a Friday night. We are fortunate to have a club here that has swiftly captured the interest of local curlers. It would be my pleasure to serve as a board member.
For the past 3 years at DC, I have been actively involved in creating collateral (flyers, guides, newsletters), event hosting, and L2C instruction. I draw my expertise from 17 years in the corporate world and 10 years running my own business. My background is in R&D, product marketing, and customer interactions. And if managing 30 engineers wasn’t a challenge enough, I succeeded in getting them all on the ice for team-building retreats.
The heart of Denver Curling is its volunteers. Volunteer run does not mean we lose sight of being a successful business. It requires leaders who are committed and put the whole of the club first – maintaining & growing membership, increasing recognition in the community, and presenting our best in all we do. As a board member, I will continue to dedicate my time, leverage my business skills, seek opportunities, and promote a positive spirit. I would like to focus more effort on teaching and development, as well as ensure a balance between private events and league/member activities. Thank you for your consideration.
